Sitting pretty amidst the Pahang rainforest is the little hamlet of Fraser's Hill. At 1,524 metres above sea level, this highlands resort is a naturalist's paradise that boasts innumerable plant, bird and animal species. This resort is popular for those who are interested in nature-based pursuits such as trekking, bird watching, horse riding, fishing and camping.

Access to Fraser's Hill is only possible by road via The Gap at the base of the resort. Once through The Gap and into Fraser's Hill, you will feel as though you have gone back in time. Fraser's Hill is akin to a little Scottish village with granite coloured mock Tudor buildings dotting the landscape. The town is relatively small, with much of the activity centred on a market square dominated by a little clock tower. Most of the town's amenities are housed in colonial styled buildings.

Considered one of Malaysia's premier locations for bird-watching, this hill resort hosts the annual Fraser's Hill International Bird Race. This bird-watching competition requires watchers to race against time in spotting as many bird species as possible within the resort'sroutes.

With the advantage cool climate, Fraser's Hill is certainly a haven for flower lovers, especially amongst the ladies.  The flower nurseries house huge amounts of local blooming flowers, and plants.  Fraser's Hill is not just another hill resort found  in Malaysia, as it has the distinction of housing the oldest colonial bungalows in Malaysia. Accommodations range from hotels and chalets to delightful colonial fashioned bungalows.

Attractions include pony rides, jungle trails, a nursery containing many exotic flowers and the Jeriau Waterfalls. Birds from as far as Siberia migrate here. The Fraser's Hill International Bird Race, the only event of its kind in Malaysia, is a world renown event and held every June each year. This event is an international event to get people to preserve and understand all of the 250 species of wild birds.

Golfing is a popular sport in Fraser's Hill. The 18 hole Fraser's Hill Golf and Country Club features a colonial style club-house with tennis courts. A second golf course, is the short and tricky 9-hole at the Royal Fraser's Hill Golf Club. Recreational activities include tennis courts and a sport complex with a heated swimming pool as well as horse riding and angling. One is also able to purchase fresh cuttings from flower gardens or pressed flowers from the souvenir shops

Trail of Fraser's Hill

One of the delights of a visit to Fraser's Hill is to be able to explore the splendour of nature with a trek through the many well marked nature trails or tracks. To fully enjoy the experience, one has to be well-prepared. A pair of good trekking shoe or a strong walking shoe, a light water-proof jacket and a pair of binoculars to look out for the wide varieties of bird life there.

百多年了，神秘的弗雷泽是依旧走不出这座原始丛林迷宫，抑或自甘放逐隐入云端……弗雷泽（Fraser），是个已被遗忘的摘花旅人。

福隆港是这座高原的华文名称，念起来益显俗气，弗雷泽高原（Fraser Hill）的英文原名，反而浪漫许多。

这是一个英殖民政府开发的度假胜地。1880年代，英国商旅路易士占姆士弗雷泽与他的驴队，是活跃在马来亚主干山脉的矿业交易人。都赖通往古毛的栈道间，他的踪影总是教人那么的熟悉，直到有一天，他与整个驴队突然消失，蒸发在空气里。多年来，没人知晓他是在何时何地为何而失踪，此后，弗雷泽成了山中传奇。

1917年，英国人C.J佛格森大卫和A.B詹平牧师前往甲甫（Gap）度假，鉴于欧洲诸国人士开始大量涌入东南亚地区，他们也受命于殖民地政府，顺便在当地物色能让这些商旅度假的适当地点。两人返回新加坡后，向上级报告，距离古毛镇通往劳勿都赖公路间，有个山区适合辟成高原度假村。他们形容该地容易开发，支出也低，值得推荐。

翌年，英殖民政府遣员进行实地考察，之后马上大兴土木。1952年，马来亚当时的英国钦差大使佐治马锡威在一项报告中指出，Fraser Hill将成为一个美丽的旅游胜地，未来几年，可预见它将迅速发展。

福隆港直到现在还保留殖民时期的风味。跨进21世纪，许多人对福隆港的“Fraser”一名师出何处毫不知晓，谁又会知道它是一个上世纪的英国“失踪人士”？20世纪已穿梭而逝，惟福隆港里的许多路名还保留英文原名，包括Lady Guillemard路、High Pines 路、Lady Maxwell 路、Richmond路、Mager路和Girdle路。

离开酷热的城市不远处，坐落一个高于海拔的优美国土─安宁和平静。早上的露珠沉淀于叶状体上。反射太阳五彩缤纷的排列如肥皂泡沫漂浮在微风上。微弱、逗留不去的烟云包围着起伏的山丘扫除寒冷的空气和凌晨的薄雾。

由吉隆坡大约一百零三公里有七个山丘的小区域，原先被命名乌鲁特拉斯(Ulu Tras)，刚好沿着帝帝旺沙山脉(Titiwangsa Range)下来。这山脉乃是马来西亚半岛的中枢。从泰国边界一路下来趋向南部，并在森美兰州(Negri Sembilan)结束，落下一千公尺以下。

弗雷泽(Louis James Fraser)的山丘

数百年前，当帝帝旺沙山脉的山丘和高山看上去使人非常畏缩，即使英国军队试图攀登。苏格兰人─弗雷泽已经征募了少数的领导者和苦力在他的远征带领他。以在山脊上部探测金属和其它贵金属。在辟出他的路途到山顶的最后三百公尺(高度)，他来到一个乌云密布的森林里。潮湿的环境创造了一个灰泥沼和朦胧的蕨类植物的壮观森林。这森林显得陈旧、感觉陈旧和甚至有陈旧的气味。

经过他新发现的财富与地位，弗雷泽无影无踪神秘般地消失大约二十五年之后。他留下所有多年以来他艰辛万苦付出的一切。新加坡的主教(C.J Ferguson-Davie)委派了一个寻觅小组寻找他。露营地和矿山被发现荒废。他们从未寻得弗雷泽。抵作他们发现了一个山中避暑地，因那里他可兴建小村庄一回忆他们心爱祖国的往事。

除此之外，欧洲国家正进行的战争让这些移民国外的人难以休假返回祖国。在主教返回新加坡后，他写了一份报告交给政府，指示福隆港联想作为山中避暑地，归因于它可便宜和迅速地发展。一九一九年，工程开始于从山凹到山庄的道路，，并于一九二二年把称福隆港的山中避暑地开放给游客。这山中避暑地覆盖了一百四十公顷的土地，并拥有超过五十公里的森林路线。于一九二七年的‘Handbook to British Malaya’手册，记载了那里有供政府官员使用的九间政府平房、四间红十字架援助兴建的屋供前服务员和女人、三间私人家园、一所乡间俱乐部、一个高尔夫球场以及完善水源供应和理所当然一间邮政局。

福隆港依然保留了它古老的殖民地吸引力，并不容错过。假如时间停顿给予一千名居民，那即是一样，他们整个星期大部分的时间都从事同样的古老方式，等候周末挣得稀稀落落的来宾和游客。多数先前殖民商人持有的古老石头村舍可良好经得住气候。

多年的英国帝国，英国家庭逢炎热的季节期间退却到凉爽的山中避暑地。这里的村舍类似那些在英国村庄发现的，具备了一个舒适的壁炉和细心照顾的园地。下午与朋友玩槌球戏，紧接着是午茶和傍晚的开味食品。

海南人民被雇用操作他们的厨房，并在无用它时维修村舍。海南人民源自中国南部的海南岛。他们被教导烹调英国人的烹饪，并以英国人的方式招待。非常忠诚的仆人，海南人保持了他们的雇用直到英国人最终离开。丧失了雇用，这些人民较后营业到如今吉隆坡和其它市镇可有的著名咖啡店。他们持续实行他们的烹调技巧，并把他们的专长传给近亲。少数逗留在福隆港的家庭保持传统提供高雅服务和极好的英国人食物。

这山中避暑地的建立也有另一个因素，英国军队相信那里会有一个地方让他们受伤的军人复原。红色十字架在那里设立了一间小型复原中心，它已经转换成一间旅馆称作Ye Olde Smokehouse，而不是医院铺位，内部如今装饰了折衷的家具和可收集的具备户外的木梁、园木炉火和古老福隆港的平版画，这地方渗出了隐没的雅致。英国人茶点和烤饼可在院子和餐馆里享用，每间房具备了它个别的特性值得留宿。
